Everything you need, before you go.

Each viewpoint is written up the same way, so you can plan with confidence.

Getting there

Every viewpoint comes with honest directions — the nearest town, the drive time, the bus, the ferry and where the path actually starts.

What's nearby

No cliff stands alone. We point you to the castles, coves, villages and harbours worth folding into the same day.

The best light

Cliffs change by the hour. We note when each one is at its most dramatic, from dawn stillness to a long coastal sunset.

Safety first

Many of these edges are unguarded and crumbling. We flag guided-only paths, tide traps and where to keep well back.

Field notes

The Gobbins is unlike any walk I've done in these islands — you're not looking at the sea, you're in it, with spray on the bridges and birds screaming overhead. Book ahead and wear real boots.

We reached Preikestolen just after dawn and had the whole pulpit almost to ourselves for twenty minutes. The silence over that drop is something I'll never forget.
Marco & Lena  ·  on Preikestolen
Étretat at golden hour looks exactly like the paintings, and then better. Walk up past the chapel for the view down onto the needle — it's worth every step.
